whenever + S + V
例：Whenever
everybody tends to his own business, news is scarce.
無論什麼時候每個人都只管自家事，新聞就會少了。
說明：
I. whenever 有兩個意思。其一為「每當 (every/each time that)」；另一為「任何時候 (at any time that)」。
a. He always passes the buck whenever anything goes wrong.
每當有差錯他就推卸責任。
b. You will be welcomed whenever you come.
你隨時來都會受到歡迎。
II. whenever 的子句中以簡單式代替未來式。
a. You can do it whenever you will please. (誤)
b. You can do it whenever you please. (正)
你高興什麼時候做就什麼時候做。
III. whenever possible/necessary 是 whenever it is possible/necessary 的縮減形式。
I'll lend you a hand whenever possible.
任何可能的時候我都會伸出援手。
IV. whenever 也可用 no matter when 來替代。
Our coach would reward us, whenever we won a game.
→ Our coach would reward us, no matter when we won a game.
無論何時我們比賽贏了，我們的教練就會獎賞我們。
