 字辨 : speak,  talk,  say,  tell

speak 與 talk 

是最普通的用語,

常可以通用,

但是

speak  spoke : 説

指 "正式的", 有 "權威性的" 講話 ,

talk  talked : 談話

非正式的,

有時指 一般性的講話,

或指 兩個人以上的

相互交換意見的交談

例1.

Doctor Li  spoke

                   on  water  pollution.

(林博士以水污染為題發表演說.)

例2.

I  need  someone

                   to  talk  to.

(我需要找個人談談.)

say  said : 說

著重所説的話 和

所表達的 "內容",

例3.

If  anyone  calls ,

              say  I  am  out.

注意 : 

直接引述句僅能用 say ,

而 間接引述句 用 tell ,

tell  told : 告訴

指以口頭或書面傳達意思,

或把 某事 告訴 某人 ,

tell 是 授與動詞(/給予動詞) ,後

有 雙受詞(/兩個受詞), 

(受詞 1 : 直接受詞 : 某人)

(受詞 2 : 間接受詞 : 某物,(或) 某事)

 tell, told : 告訴

例4.

He  told  me  a  story.

=

He  told  a  story  to  me.

(他對我講了一個故事.)

例5.

He  told  her  the  news.

=

He  told  the  news  to  her.

( 他對我講了這個消息(/新聞). )

注意 :

1.say : (說) 內容

2.speak : (説) 語言

例6.

1.He  said  good  morning

                                    to  me.

(他對我說 早安.)

例7.

2.He  speaks  English  fluently.

(他説 英文 很流利.)

1.say 後可接 "名詞子句"

2.speak 後不可接 名詞子句

例8.

He  spoke

       ( that ) his  friend  is  David.(誤)

He said 

     ( that ) his  friend  is  David.(正)

(他説  他的朋友是 大衛.)

注意 :

問人 會不會 説 某種語言 :

要用 

Do  you  speak  "(某種)語言" ?

不可用以下不禮貌的用法 ,

Can  you  speak "(某種)語言" ?

例9.

Can  you  speak  English ?(誤)

Do   you  speak  English ?(正)

(你會説英語嗎 ?)

(/平常你説英語嗎 ?)

語言 的 "聽, 說, 讀, 寫" 的

"説" 要用 speaking, 

不用 saying

" 聽,說,讀,寫 " :

" listening, speaking, reading, writing "

注意: 

以下的用語, 只可用 " tell "

(不可用 say, speak, 或 talk)

1.講故事: tell  a  story

2.講謊話: tell  a  lie 

3.講真話: tell  the  truth

4.替某人算命: 

        tell  someone's  fortune

5.鐘, 錶 的報時 : tell  the  time

7.分辨 A 和 B :

         tell  A  from  B

注意 :

cf(/比較) : say(/説) , tell(/告訴某人)

1. say  +  (that) 名詞子句

2. tell  +  某人  +  (that) 名詞子句

He  said 

 (that)  he  would  be  back

                              in  an  hour.

(他說 過一個小時他就會回來.)

He  told  me

  (that)  he  would  be  back

                               in  an  hour.

(他告訴我, 過一個小時他就會回來.)
