例：You would suppose, to look at him,
that he has gone through a lot.
注意看他，你會認為他已經歷盡滄桑。
說明：
I. 不定詞也可以表示條件，這時不定詞的動詞通常是see或hear這類感官動詞，用來解釋某一錯誤的印象，這種用法的不定詞後面常接you would think或you would never know這類的表達詞。
To see
him act on the stage, you’d think he was female.

you see him act on the stage, you’d think he was female.
看他在舞台上表演，你會以為他是女的。
II.有時候不定詞既可作條件句解，也可以表示目的，這時主要子句的動詞是現在式或未來式。若主要子句的動詞是過去式，那麼只能做目的解。

You will walk outside if you are to breathe fresh air.
假如你要呼吸新鮮空氣，你得走出去。
