一. increase:
較通用,意謂在
" 數, 量, 財富, 權力 " 的增加.
例1.
His weight has increased ten pounds.
(他體重增加了十磅.)
二. enlarge:
主要指
" 體積, 面積, 大小, 範圍, 能力 " 的增加.
例2.
They enlarged the school auditorium.
(他們把學校的禮堂擴大了.)
三. augment:
較正式, 指
" 加添數量 " 使之 增加
例3.
Many teachers do outside work
to augment their income.
(很多老師在課外兼職 , 以增加收入.)
